Icy Clear Gems – Summer’s Coolest Color
These sparkling, faceted, transparent gems have the crisp, cool look of glittering frozen glacial ice. Of course, diamonds are the most popular and best-known of all colorless gems, famous for their fiery play of rainbow color. But there are many other beautiful and brilliant colorless gems that are not only clear and cool, but very affordable too.

White Sapphire. Almost as hard as diamond, this clear corundum gemstone has a Mohs rating of 9. It has a high brilliance and clarity with a soft velvety luster.
White Topaz. A hard, bright, lively gem with great fire and life. Rated 8 on the Mohs scale, white topaz is a durable and long earing gemstone.
Spinel. Brilliantly clear and sparkling, spinel is related to corundum, and is slightly softer than ruby and sapphire.
Zircon. This beautiful and elegant gemstone has been treasured since ancient times. It has great brilliance and intense fire, but with a Mohs hardness of 6-1/2 – 7-1/2 it is sensitive to hard knocks.
White Beryl. Colorless beryl, also called Goshenite, is named after a find in Goshen, Massachusetts. Although not well known, it is a durable gem with spectacular brilliance and hardness.
Rock Crystal. This clear, sparkling gemstone is found everywhere. And although it does not have the fire and brilliance of diamond and zircon, it is a very durable gem.
